Located on the 2004 "most beautiful farm in Britain" the hostel works hard on environmental issues to the extent that it has won many awards and is partly funded by DEFRA. It runs a huge amount of impact reducing measures including solar heating, countryside protection, recycling projects and wind turbines in partnership with major universities. It offers a fine sense of design, free wifi, a cozy lounge and organic garden, but you will not find air-conditioning, televisions and pub crawls here. Fantastic hiking and they run a series of sustainability workshops.

A small hostel for the independent budget traveler, built as a wooden Swiss-Chalet. The Swiss owners, Claudia & Beat Zbinden, sold all their belongings in 1993 and cycled halfway round the world before settling in Villarrica.
